I truly believe that a picture is worth a thousand words, and especially black and white photos. For some reason I feel like the absence of color helps your brain get to the essence of the photograph and what it's trying to communicate. SO that's why I chose the photos that were the most emotional and communicated the most, and put them in black and white. I'm grateful for this talent of photography that I was able to take on this trip and I hope this blog post illustrates the essence of my trip, because there is no way I could ever put it into words.
Rachel, basically fluent in Spanish, helping the kids in the school. Santa Cruz
Rachel, Madison and Cassie, teaching the kids how to brush their teeth through a song.
John, who served his mission in Bolivia 30 years earlier.
Bobie and Marylou
The best part was how willing the people, but especially the children, were to love you. They all loved you so much and they didn't care who you were. It was amazing.
Most of us found favorites in the short time we were there, and one of mine was Camilla.
Cassie and Gabby
Maddie and Marylou
After Kyle donated his soccer equipment and uniforms to the school.
These girls were some of my favorites as well. I didn't know their names. Unfortunately it was hard for me to understand and remember so many in such a short time. But I do remember one thing and that was when we were about to leave, the girl closest to me looked right at me and said "I won't forget". That simple statement went straight to my heart.
This little girl wouldn't tell us her name yet she wanted to come with us when we left.
Melanie was one if the first children i got to kind of interact with. One of my favorite things that I learned there is that love has no single language and we were always able to communicate somehow, if not through words.
